Senior Technician, R&D

Senior Technician supporting R&D in structural heart device innovation at Edwards Lifesciences. Role involves building and testing metallic prototypes, operating fabrication equipment, and collaborating with engineering teams to develop medical device technologies.

Responsibilities

• Build, modify, and troubleshoot metallic prototypes and test units for product development
• Operate and maintain laboratory and machine shop equipment with minimal supervision
• Perform testing, collect data, and communicate results to engineering teams
• Support design and fabrication of tooling, fixtures, and prototype components
• Assist with development of manufacturing processes and laboratory procedures

Requirements

• Associate's degree in technical field plus 2+ years R&D or medical device experience, OR 4+ years equivalent experience
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Experience operating laboratory and fabrication equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical skills
• Experience with prototype assembly, troubleshooting, and test fixtures
• Knowledge of metalworking processes including machining and joining
• Familiarity with quality systems and documentation practices

Compensation: $70,000-$99,000 base (California)
