Starting Pay Range: $17.00 - $19.00 (based on location, unit, and/or client needs) About the Float DSP/Caregiver position: These positions assist designated units with staffing needs such as vacancies and census above budget by placing experienced direct support professionals (DSP). They provide support for individuals and/or groups of persons with disabilities in the community, helping clients identify and communicate their requests and needs for services and supports. DSPs implement services and supports to address the person’s goals and desired outcomes as identified through each person’s Centered Plan. DSPs seek to understand the individuals in the context of their personal history, social and family networks, and hopes and dreams for the future. DSPs rely on direction and supervision to accomplish their duties. General Float Pool Overview: Float DSPs must commit to 4 shifts (8, 10, or 12 hr) at multiple units per 2‑week schedule (one on a weekend shift). Float DSPs must work two of the six winter dates listed: Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Eve (nights)/Black Friday (days), Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. Float DSPs must work one of these summer dates: Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day. Float DSPs are not allowed to receive any special pay or bonuses (paid by other units) except for their base pay as mandated by Human Resources, unless approved by leadership. Float DSP positions are temporary and based on need. Position Requirements: Min. 2 years of direct caregiving experience in an IDD setting; behavioral health experience preferred for some units. Completion of all required training and competency checklists for the homes, clients, or units they may work in. Maintenance of all required licensure, certifications, and CPR certification current. Complete all required RHA and unit‑specific annual competencies when due; record this in Workday. Monthly review of work requirements to determine continued eligibility for the program. Benefits: Position is not benefits eligible. Physical Requirements: Regularly required to lift 30 lbs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs. Must be able to pull a minimum of 50 lbs. Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop. Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Required to regularly stand and walk. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring work on hands, knees, bending, standing and lifting. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Must be able to talk and hear. Pre‑employment Screening: Complete criminal background check. Name checked in registries (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities). Drug testing. Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements. Proof of employment history or references (if required). Positions that require driving: proof of driver’s license, driver’s insurance, and vehicle if required for providing transportation for individuals.
