What You Will Do:
Pratt & Whitney’s Commercial Engines Operations Team is seeking a PW4000 Production Chief to ensure industrial readiness, part supportability, and operational continuity for one of the company’s most important engine programs. The PW4000‑112 fleet is experiencing a significant increase in shop visit rates driven by global demand, evolving operational profiles, and unique cold‑start‑related challenges that require strong technical leadership and proactive industrial coordination.

This role is a key part of the program’s operational leadership structure and serves as the central integrator across Engineering, Aftermarket, Shops, Mod-Centers, IBP, and the Program Office. You will also have major customer‑facing responsibility, including direct engagement with United Airlines, one of our largest PW4000 operators, to ensure transparency, alignment, and responsive action on production and material‑related issues.

The PW4000 Production Chief is responsible for aligning production and aftermarket requirements, ensuring shop readiness, and driving risk mitigation across the entire industrial ecosystem. The core responsibilities align with the OCE Production Chief’s office, with additional PW4000 program‑specific focus on cold‑start operational ramp up and heightened customer engagement.

• Lead industrial readiness for the PW4000‑112 program across internal and external shops, ensuring capacity and material availability scales with rising shop visit volumes.

• Identify, quantify, and mitigate industrial risks, including part shortages, repair yield variability, and used‑serviceable material constraints.

• Drive alignment between PW4000‑112 production requirements, aftermarket priorities, and fleet support objectives.

• Serve as the primary Operations customer interface for industrial planning, part recovery, and shop status, with strong emphasis on United Airlines and other major PW4000 operators.

• Lead PW4000‑112 industrial reviews with the IPMT, highlighting program risks, mitigation plans, and part supply status.

• Partner closely with the Program Office to collaboratively achieve production milestones and support fleet/shop visit needs.

• Collaborate across P&W and external partners to resolve part shortages, remove production constraints, and escalate systemic issues requiring leadership attention.

• Develop and maintain weekly Heat Maps to quantify part or process risks and drive proactive actions.

• Maintain robust processes to communicate part delivery commitments to internal and customer stakeholders.

• Maintain and update the five‑year PW4000‑112 spare parts forecast in partnership with Aftermarket.

• Develop systemic approaches to detect and prevent future part shortages, incorporating lessons learned from PW4000‑specific failure modes and cold‑start operational stresses.

• Interface routinely with executive leadership to escalate issues, present risk mitigation strategies, and communicate production status.
• Work closely with Engineering and Operations to understand and mitigate cold‑start‑related impacts on hardware condition, repair throughput, and material demand.
• Build strong partnerships with United Airlines, ensuring clear communication on part availability, shop loading, and recovery plans.
• Support technical and operational readiness through coordinated material flow, shop readiness, and rapid response actions.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent technical discipline and minimum 10 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing/shop operations, quality, supply chain, or related field OR master’s degree and minimum 7 years of relevant experience an engineering, manufacturing/shop operations, quality, supply chain, or related field.
• SAP knowledge / SIOP / MRP / Demand and Forecasting experience
• Demonstrated experience in program management and cross-functional coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical teams and build credibility at all organizational levels.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience with engineering change management, process control, Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing tools.
• Demonstrated leadership competencies: strategic thinking, drive for results, teamwork, communication.
• Ability to rapidly assimilate complex PW4000 industrial and technical information and drive clear outcomes.
• Ability to independently own issues, drive closure, and maintain accountability across functional team members.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
