Position Summary

A well-established FAA-regulated workshop is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist - Lathe Operator to join the team in East Windsor, CT . This position is responsible for setting up and operating manual lathes and other machine shop equipment to fabricate or repair parts to precise specifications. U.S. Citizenship is required in accordance with FAA regulations.

Positions are available on both 1st and 2nd shifts .

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate manual machine shop equipment including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders.
Use dimensional measuring tools and test equipment to verify part conformance.
Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and process documentation.
Select and secure tooling, fixtures, and materials based on specifications.
Collaborate with engineering and production personnel to resolve technical issues.
Perform minor maintenance on machinery and document equipment condition.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with safety and FAA standards.
Perform other duties as assigned to support production and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

2-4 years of hands-on experience operating manual lathes.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of a vocational or college-level machining program preferred.
U.S. Citizenship required (FAA regulation).
Ability to machine and measure to tight tolerances (up to 0.0002").
Strong understanding of machine shop theory and mathematics.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
Skilled in selecting appropriate tooling and setup for various materials and operations.
Proficient with dimensional measuring tools and inspection techniques.
Comfortable using basic computer software (Word, Excel, internet navigation).
Effective verbal and written communication in English, as required by FAA regulations.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Able to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
