We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join a growing finance team in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who can balance month-end responsibilities with process-focused project work across multiple business entities. The position will play a key part in creating more consistent accounting operations, strengthening controls, and supporting long-term improvements that help the organization scale effectively.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee core month-end close activities, ensuring entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules are completed accurately and on time.
• Examine balance sheet reconciliations in detail, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Partner with finance leadership to standardize accounting workflows across multiple entities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory-related processes.
• Evaluate existing accounts payable procedures, uncover root causes of payment timing issues, and help design a more controlled and efficient process.
• Support initiatives to document accounting procedures and establish consistent practices that improve visibility, accountability, and execution across the organization.
• Contribute to process improvement and implementation projects, adapting priorities as new findings emerge and business needs evolve.
• Assist with consolidation-related accounting activities and help ensure financial information is aligned across separate operating businesses.
• Work through recommendations from prior advisory assessments, helping determine which improvements are practical, valuable, and ready for execution.
• Participate in finance technology and automation efforts, including projects related to streamlining payable workflows and supporting broader software implementation needs.• Prior experience in an Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager role with broad responsibility for accounting operations and close activities.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting fundamentals.
• Demonstrated success improving processes, documenting workflows, and implementing more efficient accounting procedures.
• Ability to manage shifting priorities and remain effective in an environment with multiple concurrent projects.
• Experience reviewing reconciliations, supporting internal controls, and driving accuracy across balance sheet accounts.
• Familiarity with consolidations, financial statement audit support, and multi-entity accounting environments.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, collaborate across teams, and support long-term organizational goals.
• Comfort participating in software implementation or automation initiatives within an accounting or finance function.
