Baker

Southside Coffee, our sweet neighborhood gathering spot in south Park Slope, Brooklyn, is seeking two experienced bakers - one for three to five shifts per week, and another for two to three shifts per week. You should be a confident baker, ideally with food service experience, be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment, and have an eye for detail while maintaining awareness of the bigger picture. 

We serve a rotating menu of scones, quick breads, cakes, pies, bars, buns, cookies, muffins, biscuits, and more. As part of our tight-knit 4 person baking team, you will have lots of autonomy and creativity, as well as the opportunity to bake with high quality ingredients and seasonal produce. 

Responsibilities include:

• baking off and plating the morning’s baked goods, while maintaining high quality and catching and solving any issues that arise
• setting a menu for the following day, completing daily prep and baking
• maintaining a clean, organized and stocked workplace that adheres to NYC DOH cleanliness standards and health code
• tracking inventory throughout your shifts, identifying shortages before they become an issue
• daily communication with social media and baking team, responding to emails and texts in a timely manner
• bring a collaborative mindset - share your ideas for recipes, workflow, changes or improvements

The schedule is fairly flexible, with at least one weekend day is required. Shifts begin at 6am and typically end between 1 and 2pm. We will be interviewing between 7/15 and 7/24. Trails will take place on 7/25, 27, 28 or 29th. The position will begin the week of 8/3.
