Operations Manager – MEP Construction Locations: West Memphis, AR & Orlando or Tampa, FL | 2 Openings Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite Compensation: $130,000–$170,000 annually Relocation/Travel Support: Relocation assistance or weekly living allowance available for eligible travelers Position Overview Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking experienced Operations Managers – MEP Construction for two direct-hire opportunities in West Memphis, AR and Orlando/Tampa, FL. This leadership role is responsible for the day-to-day execution and performance of an assigned business unit, overseeing projects from preconstruction through project closeout. The Operations Manager will lead Project Managers, General Superintendents, and Superintendents while driving safety, quality, productivity, profitability, risk management, and customer satisfaction across multiple large-scale commercial MEP construction projects. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of MEP subcontractor experience on commercial projects valued at $20 million or more, including at least 5 years of Operations Manager experience. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage Project Managers, General Superintendents, and Superintendents across multiple concurrent projects. Provide operational leadership from preconstruction through project execution and closeout. Develop and implement execution plans to support business objectives, project performance, and profitability. Maintain consistent project and field management processes throughout the business unit. Allocate, coordinate, and oversee drafting resources and quality assurance activities. Identify and implement productivity and operational improvements. Champion jobsite safety, address violations, and provide coaching to prevent future incidents. Lead project review meetings with Project Managers and field leadership. Review project status, schedules, billings, cash position, costs, and performance deviations. Approve additional customer pricing, including change orders, back charges, claims, and other contract modifications. Resolve cost and coordination issues between installation and engineering teams. Monitor project risks, including subcontractor certifications, insurance, bonding, safety, and theft prevention. Identify and develop emerging Project Managers and field leaders. Ensure project teams maintain quality standards, contractual requirements, and customer expectations. Build strong customer relationships and drive overall client satisfaction. Support business unit planning, resource allocation, financial performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in the MEP subcontractor industry supporting large-scale commercial construction. Experience with commercial MEP projects valued at $20 million or more. 5+ years of Operations Manager experience within MEP or commercial construction. Proven experience managing multiple Project Managers, General Superintendents, and Superintendents across concurrent projects. Strong understanding of MEP construction operations, project management, field execution, cost control, and project financials. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of construction safety, quality assurance, risk management, and productivity. Ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail‑oriented with strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities. Knowledge of the MEP construction industry and competitive landscape. Ability to work 100% onsite at the assigned project location. Preferred Qualifications State Plumbing License. Six or more months of formal safety training. Experience overseeing multiple large-scale commercial MEP projects simultaneously.
