Field Service Technician II

The Field Service Technician II is responsible for the troubleshooting and repair of batteries and attendant equipment while providing quality customer service. They handle a high quantity of communications and manage their workload while remaining alert to new clients and enhanced sales opportunities. Responsibilities include representing the company in a neat and professional manner in accordance with company standards, practicing safety and good housekeeping in all circumstances, conveying information to proper customer contacts, safely operating a service vehicle and keeping it in good working order, operating a forklift truck and reach truck on a regular basis, safely and correctly processing non-potable water recovered by the battery wash, testing for and analyzing results of acidity level of water (pH), performing voltage testing and pressure washing of battery, performing battery inspections, battery watering, battery washing, and recording of cell voltages and specific gravities, evaluating power module performance by reviewing its electronics operation and components against specifications, performing planned and preventative maintenance of chargers, performing diagnosis of and resolving charger issues (bad fuse, display failure, AC cord, power module), performing complete cell replacements, welds and burns batteries, identifying and servicing components as needed (e.g., diodes, capacitors, line contactors), maintaining an accurate assigned parts inventory, following assigned schedule to ensure regular product maintenance, recognizing and addressing safety and EPA issues, complying with company policies and procedures (regarding issues such as warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, and hazmat), actively promoting point of sale items and allied products and services, ensuring work orders are filled out properly and in a timely manner, establishing good working relationships with customers, participating in sales process by identifying client opportunity (expanded services, new client, etc.) and conveying said information to appropriate sales personnel, communicating with others (supervisor, company technicians or other departments, as needed), to coordinate necessary repairs or either resolve customer complaints or seize opportunities, communicating with Management and Sales regarding any unresolved customer issues, reading, analyzing, and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural and technical manuals, defining problems and drawing valid conclusions on the work that needs to be performed, interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. All other duties as required.

Education/Training: High School graduate or equivalent, required. 2-year technical degree or equivalent combination of work experience and education, preferred. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and the internet. Working knowledge of standard shop tools. Safety training for Spill Containment and Lead Level. Possess or obtain Commercial Driver's License with endorsement for hazardous materials. Forklift certified, have or will train. Clean and current Driver's license (MVR check) in the applying State. Good understanding of basic electricity/electronics. Possesses the knowledge and ability to safely complete all tasks of an Ultra Care Technician III without supervision. 1-3 Years of battery industry or related experience, preferably in a field service environment. Pay: $25/hr-$35/hr #MCTA1
