Demonstrate ability to properly prepare welding surface. Responsible for the design, welding, and fabrication of routine and occasionally complex metal parts and components. Ability to perform in-process quality control checks for self, sometimes with assistance from Project and Group Leaders, to ensure that tolerances are met. Follow all shop safety rules and regulations. Ability to perform all required weld techniques at a high level. Responsible for the welding and fabrication of intricate metal part and components / full weldments. Perform fit-up and assembly without supervision. Ability to perform in-process quality control checks for self and other welders to ensure that tolerances are met. Able to make complex adjustments to welding equipment as required. Regularly handles complex assignments. Capable of reading and understanding complex prints and welding symbols. Ability to project lead and mentor fellow employees. Follow all shop safety rules and regulations. Other duties as required. : Education and Experience: Must meet and be capable of all of the requirements for the Welder II / Combination Welder job. High School Diploma or GED with 3+ years of experience / Technical school preferred. Ability to pass two (2) weld certifications in each process. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Lifting, carrying, pushing & pulling up to 75 lbs. Standing; constant standing upright, while working at workbenches, machinery, or operating equipment. Stooping; frequently bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Reaching; frequently extending hands or arms in any direction. Handling; frequently seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with the hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand, such as to turn a switch or shift automobile gears. Fingering; frequently picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. Feeling; occasionally noting attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture, by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Hearing; constantly perceiving the nature of sounds by ear. Near acuity vision; constant clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Proximity to moving parts; frequent exposure to possible bodily injury from moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, or machinery. Exposure to noise; frequent exposure to mild to moderate noise levels. Noise from powered press brakes, powered shears, automatic punches, power hand grinders, power hand sanders, air compressors, forklift trucks, and hammering. Other: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues. Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
