Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

JWF Industries is seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our growing team in Johnstown, PA.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining product quality, supporting production operations, and ensuring welded products meet customer drawings, specifications, and applicable welding codes.

Candidates with experience in welding inspection, quality assurance, AWS codes, weld symbols, fabrication, manufacturing quality control, and nondestructive examination support are encouraged to apply.

Essential Duties

• Support manufacturing and customer projects by ensuring welded products meet drawing, specification, and contract requirements.
• Perform welding inspections and quality verification activities throughout the manufacturing process.
• Verify compliance with AWS welding codes, customer specifications, and company quality standards.
• Inspect welded assemblies, fabrications, and components for conformance to requirements.
• Utilize inspection tools and measuring equipment to validate product quality.
• Assist with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Help facilitate problem-solving activities involving weld quality and manufacturing concerns.
• Support production teams by providing technical guidance related to welding quality requirements.
• Document inspection findings and maintain quality records.
• Participate in internal and external audits as required.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Production personnel to achieve quality objectives.

Education Level

Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is required. Additional quality, welding, fabrication, or manufacturing certifications are a plus.

Experience

• Experience in a metal fabrication, welding, manufacturing, or industrial production environment required.
• Active Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential required.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of AWS welding codes and welding inspection standards.
• Experience performing weld inspections and quality verification activities.
• General knowledge of quality inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and precision measuring equipment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with production personnel, engineers, quality professionals, and customers.
• Experience supporting corrective actions and quality improvement initiatives preferred.
• Knowledge of welding processes and related fabrication operations is highly desired.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to have the ability to concentrate and perform responsibilities by maintaining a constant state of focus and mental alertness. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands (including gripping & grasping) and reach with arms. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee will frequently walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision requirements such as color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
