Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a night shift Acute Telemetry position in Alexandria, LA, caring for cardiac patients including MI, CHF, and arrhythmias, with an every-other-weekend requirement.

Details

• Acute Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes MI, CHF, arrhythmias, PVD, and some med-surg overflow
• Cardiac drip management is performed on this unit (nitrates are not used)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1, occasionally 6:1
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand
• Current BLS certification from the AHA required
• Current ACLS certification from the AHA required
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry or related nursing specialty experience preferred
• BSN preferred

Additional Information

• Provides nursing care using the full nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Responsible for medication and treatment administration per protocol, including monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• New hires attend orientation within the first 30 days and are precepted by a designated trained staff member
• Ceil blue scrubs required
• Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
• Candidates who have previously worked at any CHRISTUS Health facility (non-travel) must have a minimum 6-month separation before being considered for a travel assignment — this applies across the entire CHRISTUS Health System
• Two references required for consideration
• A US Social Security Number is required for consideration
