Accountant - County Auditor's Office

RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare entry level grant financials according to grant contract. Monitor and/or prepare reports or billings for residual accounts, law enforcement agreements, and other agreements entered into by the County, ensuring compliance with agency requirements to maximize funding. Set up grant or other agreements in the financial system along with budgets, monitor revenue reimbursements, and close out agreements when completed. Work with outside agencies and departments on audits when necessary. Analyze financial documents such as general ledger, balance sheet, and budgets for County Departments. Troubleshoot accounting problems and correct issues in subsystems or create journal entries as needed. Perform other duties as assigned, which may include working with Internal Audit staff and fee officer departments to maintain transactional data in the financial system. Assist with preparing various annual financial report audits in collaboration with outside auditors. Prepare accounts receivable uploads into the accounting system for the generation of payment and proper recording in the general ledger. Participate in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA preferred. Five years of job-related experience; three years of accounting/finance experience preferred. Knowledge of accounting and other finance-related areas. Strong verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills. Ability to deal with people effectively and professionally. Self‑motivated and able to follow through independently on assigned projects. STARTING SALARY RANGE $28.80 – $36.00 hourly, based on qualifications. CLOSING DATE Upon filling position.
