Project AccountantOur client, a growing organization within the construction and real estate development industry, is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join their collaborative accounting team. This Project Accountant position plays a critical role in managing project-related billing, vendor cost tracking, account reconciliations, and reporting across multiple active projects.The ideal Project Accountant is highly organized, customer service focused, and comfortable partnering with both internal project teams and external clients. This role offers excellent exposure to project operations, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to work within a tight-knit, team-oriented culture.Key Responsibilities of the Project AccountantClient Billing & InvoicingManage a high volume of client invoicing.Coordinate with project teams to ensure project costs are accurately captured and billed.Prepare, review, and submit invoices in a timely manner.Research and resolve billing discrepancies and client inquiries.Maintain strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers.Support accounts receivable activities, including posting customer payments and assisting project teams with collections efforts.Vendor & Subconsultant Cost ManagementProcess vendor and subconsultant invoices.Review and assign appropriate project coding for costs and expenses.Track project-related expenditures and ensure accuracy within project accounting systems.Partner with project managers to validate costs and maintain accurate project financial data.Assist with expense management and invoice workflows within project accounting software.Project Reporting & Account ReconciliationsGenerate project reports through Procore and other project accounting systems.Analyze project cost data and provide reporting support to project teams.Perform accounts receivable reconciliations and maintain accurate accounting records.Assist with month-end activities and accounting clean-up efforts.Support special projects and ad hoc reporting requests.Provide financial information that helps project teams make informed decisions.Minimum Qualifications for the Project AccountantMust-Have RequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experienceMinimum of 2 years of project accounting experience.Experience with accounts receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, and collections support.Strong understanding of project-based accounting environments.Advanced Microsoft 365 proficiency.Experience working within project accounting software.Strong Excel skills, including:Pivot TablesData sorting and analysisExcellent communication and customer service skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Procore.Experience with Business Central.Construction, engineering, architecture, development, or real estate industry experience.Exposure to month-end close processes.Preferred Skills & CompetenciesThe successful Project Accountant will bring:Strong verbal and written communication skills.A relationship-focused approach with both internal and external customers.Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.A proactive mindset and willingness to ask questions.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-first environment.Professionalism and accountability when managing sensitive financial information.Culture & Work EnvironmentThis Project Accountant role offers the opportunity to join an organization that values teamwork, collaboration, and employee well-being.Unlimited PTO.100% employer-paid health benefits.Employer retirement contribution program.Hybrid work schedule.Modern, professional office environment.Business casual dress code.Tight-knit team culture with approximately 30 employees locally and an additional distributed workforce.Strong growth potential and opportunities to expand accounting responsibilities over time.Regular team events, lunches, and employee engagement activities.Target salary range: $70,000-80,000Comprehensive benefits package includedWhy Apply?This Project Accountant position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys balancing client-facing communication with project financial management.
