Senior Research Coordinator

Job Overview Develops, implements, and supports the research process by assisting investigators in study design, approval, and data management for subspecialty clinical trials. Actively promotes a lean work culture, supporting patient safety and efficient research operations at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Key Responsibilities Develop, conduct, and facilitate research protocols at an expert level. Provide substantial support for investigators in writing study protocols. Lead participant screening, enrollment, study activities, and communication. Coordinate study visits and procedures, including specimen acquisition, transport, documentation, and shipment. Acquire equipment and supply resources for research studies. Obtain informed consent following Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta policies and regulatory requirements. Schedule study-specific visits in conjunction with ancillary departments. Facilitate data management activities, collaborate with the manager to assess needs, and provide leadership for data entry, integrity, and statistical support. Develop and evaluate source and case report form tools. Provide leadership for coordination of patient care in research protocols. Administer research surveys and required testing (e.g., ECG, phlebotomy) when trained. Document all research activities within the medical record. Lead regulatory processes related to clinical research, including IRB preparation, submission, modifications, reporting, and termination. Provide support and training on all regulatory processes. Guide team auditing of regulatory practices and maintain document integrity. Lead sponsor correspondence, monitoring, and study meetings. Lead education activities and quality initiatives to support research activities. Maintain licensure, certification, and system education requirements. Serve as an instructor and mentor for quality and education activities. Collaborate with the manager to incorporate system initiatives into departmental practices. Assist with facilitating grants, contracts, and financial tasks for research and clinical trials. Assist investigators in budgeting, sponsor interactions, feasibility assessments, account management, and reconciliation. Complete research administrative duties per Children’s policies, including Epic enrollment, clinical trial system data entry, and patient care invoice accuracy. Serve as a key contact for business partners such as Emory, Georgia Tech, and University of Georgia. Work collaboratively with the manager to monitor metrics. Experience & Education 3 years of experience in clinical research with knowledge of clinical trial conduct, research principles, and methodologies/study design, or 2 years of experience with an advanced degree. Master’s degree in a scientific or health‑related field (preferred). Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or health‑related field. Certifications & Requirements Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment if the role requires patient contact. ARUP Handling, Packaging, and Shipping of Infectious Substances within 30 days if specimen acquisition is required. Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) Certified Research Associate (CRA), Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP), Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), or comparable certification within 1 year of becoming eligible. Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) within 30 days of employment. Pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher within 30 days of employment. Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, subordinates, and superiors.
