Senior Production Planner

The Senior Production Planner supports manufacturing operations in a fast-paced production environment by managing production flow, overseeing work orders and manufacturing travelers, coordinating outside processing activities, and contributing to accurate customer and vendor quotations. This role is primarily computer-based and requires strong ERP expertise, solid production planning knowledge, and the ability to quickly integrate into an active manufacturing setting with minimal training.

Responsibilities

• Manage production schedules and workflow for active manufacturing orders to ensure timely completion and on-time delivery.
• Create, release, and maintain work orders and manufacturing travelers, ensuring they are accurate, properly sequenced, and distributed to the shop floor and production supervisors.
• Monitor production backlog, including approximately $1M in existing orders, and prioritize jobs to meet customer delivery requirements and reduce bottlenecks.
• Coordinate outside processing (OSP) activities, including communication with vendors, scheduling outsourced work, and tracking timelines for processes not performed in-house.
• Collaborate closely with production supervisors, purchasing, and leadership to maintain smooth production flow and resolve scheduling or capacity constraints.
• Support inventory visibility and material requirements planning to ensure the right materials are available at the right time for production.
• Assist with customer and vendor quotations by gathering and analyzing labor hours, material costs, and outside processing expenses, and by collaborating with supervisors on estimates and markups.
• Maintain accurate production and planning data within the ERP system, including work orders, routings, and other production documentation.
• Generate travelers and work orders in the proper order, distribute them to the shop floor, and follow up to ensure execution aligns with the production plan.
• Communicate effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders to manage production status, resolve issues, and support quoting and estimating activities.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in production planning, production control, materials planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.
• Hands-on experience working within ERP systems such as Quantum, SAP, or similar platforms.
• Manufacturing industry experience with a strong understanding of production processes and workflows.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
• Experience creating work orders, travelers, routings, or other production documentation in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and a significant production backlog.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with production supervisors, purchasing, leadership, vendors, and customers.
• Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly learn processes and contribute with minimal supervision.
• Ability to manage production control activities, materials management tasks, and vendor communication in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience supporting quoting activities, including gathering labor, material, and outside processing costs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Worth, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
