Nutrition Services Associate Substitute

EFFECTIVE: Substitute, as needed Position Type: Non‑Exempt, hourly. Work hours: flexible as needed. Schedule varies Monday‑Friday, 6:30am‑2:30pm. Benefits Eligible: No. Position Summary This position will prepare and serve breakfast and lunch to stakeholders, adhering to state, federal, and district policies and procedures. Ensure a smooth flow of students through the payment and point‑of‑sale system. Follow oral and written position instructions. Support in all matters related to the preparation and delivery of meals. Ensure delicious and nutritious meals are provided daily to support student learning and achievement. Accountable for customer service, compliance, food preparation and delivery, cashiering, and cleaning. Provide participative feedback regarding menu planning and food production. Partner with mentors, interns, and community members to advocate for healthier and flavorful meals for students. Assist manager with report preparation and record maintenance in accordance with USDA, CDE, and district policies. Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and serve healthy, nutritious, and appetizing breakfast and lunch to stakeholders. Cashier and student account management. Accurate recording of reimbursable meals using the point‑of‑sale system. Ensure site, equipment, and textile cleanliness/sanitation in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations, including the HACCP program. Assist in ensuring proper food storage in accordance with federal, state, and local nutritional standards and guidelines. Provide feedback regarding the meals that have been offered. Assist in preparing flavorful, nutritious, and National School Lunch Program (NSLP)‑compliant meals. Promote food service purchases through marketing, stakeholder buy‑in, taste tests, student involvement, etc. Provide continuous monitoring to ensure compliance with safety standards. Communicate and support school activities that encourage stakeholder involvement in student learning. Assist with implementing standards and procedures. Deliver quality, accurate, constructive, corrective, specific, and timely feedback to employees that encourages them to perform at their highest level. Serve as a leader by supporting and actively participating in staff professional development. Coach and encourage others to use technology to enhance achievement and accuracy. Demonstrate patience with stakeholders when implementing new systems, policies, and procedures. Attend conferences, trainings, and other professional development to remain current on nutrition matters. Establish stakeholder rapport to enable proactive responses to potential problems. Address safety concerns by working with stakeholders to ensure compliance with district‑wide safety and emergency protocols. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Create and implement effective and efficient process management strategies (e.g., procedures, equipment, materials and supplies). Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy. Education / Training / Experience High School graduate or equivalent. Bilingual (preferred). English fluency will be determined through the application and interview process. Licenses or Certifications Valid Colorado Driver's License. Essential Physical Requirements Frequent lifting of 5 to 35 pounds. Occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds, with assistance. Frequent bending, walking, standing, reaching, and hand and arm movements. Occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, and squatting. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Use hands to grasp and for fine manipulation. Eye‑hand coordination (e.g., typing, 10‑key). Concentrated reading/writing/mathematics. Visual concentration on equipment. Speak, hear, smell, and taste. Work Environment The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Regular exposure to odors, moisture (wet/humid), extreme heat and cold, and moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to extreme weather, hazardous materials, and bodily fluids. Mostly clean and comfortable. Reports To Nutrition Services Manager or designee. Location District Wide Salary Starting hourly rate $17.36 - $19.62 per hour, depending on full‑time, job‑related experience. Additional Information New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Closing Date This position will be open through the 2026‑2027 school year and close on 05/17/2027.
