Mechanical Technician II About the Role Assemble, test, and maintain complex mechanical systems and components to meet required specifications. Work closely with engineers and senior technicians to ensure the quality and reliability of flight hardware. Assemble major structures, perform part‑fitting operations for spacecraft systems, and translate blueprints into mechanical assemblies. Perform precision drilling, use calibrated tools, bond components, troubleshoot, and develop advanced precision cleaning skills. Work independently on complex mechanical assemblies involving soldering, harness routing, inspection, in‑process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication. Inspect, assemble, integrate, and operationally check flight hardware while meeting specifications and standards. Use precision measurement tools to ensure components meet specified tolerances while adhering to PPE and shop safety requirements. Follow 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols; lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in restrictive spaces. Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals. Minimum Qualifications 2+ years of experience in a mechanical or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements. Ability to perform intermediate equipment setup and maintenance activities, demonstrating mechanical aptitude and competency with hand and precision tools. Proficiency in precision cleaning. Knowledge of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness. Ability to conduct verification and troubleshooting of own work. Proficient understanding of mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in‑process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication. Preferred Qualifications Certifications: IPC, J‑STD, A&P License. Strong written and oral communication skills. Proficiency using hand and power tools. Understanding of mechanical systems and components. Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints. Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
