Mental Health CounselorThe Opportunity:Position is a 12 month/40 hour per week. Primary responsibilities are to provide individual, couples, and group counseling using a brief treatment framework of counseling. Crisis intervention is also an essential job duty for this position. Must be able to conduct appropriate assessments, provide feedback on these assessments, and give appropriate referrals for students who have needs exceeding the scope of work provided by Counseling Services. The counselor will also consult with Wellness Center providers regarding student needs. Provide consultation services to concerned faculty, students, and staff. This position may see students mandated to attend counseling by the University for sanctions associated with infractions of the Universities Drug and Alcohol policy. The counselor will work collaboratively with the Counseling Center staff, meeting weekly with the Counseling Director. Protocols are in place and will be followed as far as the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners and ACA Code of Ethics. Will continue to keep current in counseling practices by attending professional conferences and training sessions, required for licensing. This position may require public presentations to various groups on campus by providing wellness education and outreach to students and staff in conjunction with Human Resources. This position may require some after-hours availability based on need. Responsibility of maintaining one's own up to date and active Liability Insurance is required.In the Mental Health Counselor II position you will be required to sit in as acting Director of Counseling Services in their absence, or as needed by request of the acting Director.
