Job Description
Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant

Experience: One year in a long-term care environment
License: NYS Nursing Assistant Certification
Certifications: BLS (AHA or RQI only)

Description:
Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information needed.
Ensures that resident's activities of daily living (ADLs) needs are met as outlined in the plan of care.
Maintains a safe and comfortable environment, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, and toileting needs.
Documents care completed per protocol.
Maintains resident safety and environment as outlined in the plan of care.
Responds promptly to call lights and alarms, and maintains cleanliness of the unit.
Ensures resident's nutritional needs are met as outlined in the plan of care, including meal delivery and feeding.
Honors resident preferences and choices, documenting care completed per protocol.
Meets resident's rehabilitative needs as outlined in the plan of care, including range of motion and ambulation.
Reports resident rights, refusals, and concerns to the Charge Nurse in a timely manner.
Identifies and reports changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status promptly.
Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated.
Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
