As Financial Controller, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at one of Texas’ most iconic resort destinations. This role partners with an experienced executive team, influences strategic business decisions, and drives the financial success of a dynamic, full‑service resort known for delivering exceptional guest experiences. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a large, complex resort operation and serve as a key finance leader supporting day‑to‑day operations. The role functions as the right hand to the Director of Finance, combining deep accounting expertise with strong operational partnership across the property. This is not a traditional back‑office accounting role; the ideal candidate thrives in a highly operational, multi‑department setting, translating financial insight into actionable business results across the resort. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute month‑end close, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes with accuracy and timeliness Oversee full accounting operations, including GL, AP/AR, payroll, income audit, and purchasing Own budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across multiple revenue streams Manage audit, compliance, tax‑related reporting, and internal control processes Oversee cash flow, multi‑entity financial activity, and capital planning initiatives Act as a finance business partner to operational leaders (F&B, golf, spa, marina, lodging, membership, etc.) Translate financial data into actionable insights for non‑finance stakeholders Drive process improvements across systems, reporting tools, and workflows Ensure consistency and accuracy across financial systems and reporting platforms Mentor, develop, and lead accounting staff while fostering strong cross‑functional collaboration Operational Environment Multiple revenue streams and business lines 40+ departments across the property Diverse operations including hotel, spa, golf, marina, F&B outlets, membership, and residential components Required Qualifications 5–10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership responsibility Prior experience as: Controller or Assistant Controller or Senior Accounting Manager (within a hospitality/resort environment) Direct hospitality experience required; resort experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of: Financial reporting (GAAP) Month‑end close processes Budgeting and forecasting Audit, compliance, and internal controls Preferred Experience Multi‑unit or multi‑outlet hospitality environments Exposure to F&B, spa, golf, marina, or resort operations Experience actively supporting operational leaders (not strictly corporate finance) Familiarity with systems such as: M3 (accounting system) ProfitSword (BI/forecasting tool) BirchStreet (procurement system) Opera or similar PMS platforms Key Competencies Deep understanding of operational workflows and their financial impact Strong cross‑functional collaboration and business partnership mindset Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non‑finance teams Hands‑on leadership style with a willingness to operate “in the weeds” while maintaining a strategic lens Highly organized with strong execution, ownership, and follow‑through What Success Looks Like Financial reporting is accurate, timely, and trusted—no surprises Finance is actively driving business performance, not just reporting it Strong, collaborative relationships exist across all resort departments Accounting operations run smoothly with effective controls and processes A high‑performing, engaged accounting team is developed and retained Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $105,000 – $125,000 (flexibility based on experience) Bonus: ~10% performance‑based Full benefits package: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match Paid time off + holidays Relocation assistance may be available Why Join Horseshoe Bay Resort High‑impact leadership role within a premier, multi‑revenue destination resort Exposure to complex, multi‑entity resort operations Opportunity to influence both financial strategy and day‑to‑day operational performance Collaborative, entrepreneurial environment with strong leadership visibility Resort perks including discounts on dining, retail, and stays, plus access to amenities Equal Opportunity Employer / Protected Veterans / Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
