Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Oncology for a travel nursing job in Aurora, Colorado.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Oncology\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/19/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, rotating\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Rotating, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 19, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical Oncology RN for a surgical oncology unit, requiring 2+ years acute care experience, teaching hospital experience, and a CO or Compact RN license.Details\n \n Surgical Oncology unit within a teaching hospital setting\n 36 staffed beds with a Trauma Level I designation\n Patient population primarily includes Gynecologic Oncology, Colorectal, Pancreatic, Liver, and Stomach cancer patients requiring surgical intervention\n No chemotherapy or biotherapy administered on this unit, so chemo certification is not required\n Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, which may flex based on staffing and unit needs\n Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00) with occasional floating to night shifts\n Various days of the week required, including weekends per unit needs\n Floating required within scope to like units and potentially to sister facilities\n Uses Epic charting system\n No on-call requirements\n Navy scrub color required\n Requirements\n \n Active CO or Compact RN license required\n Current BLS certification (AHA)\n Minimum 2 years acute care experience required\n Teaching hospital experience required (hard stop requirement)\n Trauma Level I experience required\n Epic charting experience required\n Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, and central line care\n Experience with post-surgical care, ostomy management, and wound care\n Experience with oncologic emergencies including sepsis and anaphylaxis management\n Foley catheter insertion and management skills required\n Knowledge of neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE protocols\n Additional Information\n \n Provide post-operative nursing care to surgical oncology patients working toward discharge milestones\n Support patients and families through psychosocial care, education, and symptom management\n Perform care coordination and interpretation of dysrhythmias as part of daily responsibilities\n Complete all facility-specific training modules within the first week of assignment\n First-time travelers accepted, provided they have teaching hospital experience\n Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates within the last two years will not be considered\n Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking\n Maximum of 10 RTO days permitted per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during select weeks\n No blocked scheduling requests permitted\n Local candidates accepted\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-761319.
