Sr. Manager - Business Operations

The Senior Manager – Business Operations (BOSI) in Facilities Services is a strategic leadership position that oversees the day‑to‑day operations of Construction Finance, budgeting, contracting and project execution for Stanford Health Care. The role ensures that capital projects are adequately funded, payments processed on time, and that operations run smoothly across all Facilities Construction initiatives. Responsibilities Lead and manage the preparation, progress tracking and reporting of construction finance initiatives, enhancing process efficiency and operational effectiveness. Collaborate with senior leaders to develop, implement and continuously improve innovative solutions for the Facilities Construction program. Coordinate with the BOSI Director and Business Manager to provide data‑driven insights, progress updates and strategic recommendations. Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting frameworks to monitor performance and identify opportunities for process improvement. Lead the strategic planning and management of capital and operating expense budgets; work closely with the Business Manager on the annual budget. Oversee the setup of new capital projects, ensuring a seamless transition from planning to execution. Process and reconcile capital appropriations, requisitions, and purchase orders for construction projects, ensuring compliance and efficiency. Audit and oversee construction vendor invoices and general contractor pay applications, maintaining financial integrity and accountability. Provide analytical support for Facilities Services through timely, insightful reporting to inform strategic decisions. Proactively identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Collaborate with the Capital Finance team to achieve operational excellence across the enterprise. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a work‑related discipline from an accredited college or university (required). Seven to eight years of progressively responsible, direct experience in business operations, budgeting, or a related field (required). Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate at all organizational levels. Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, and relationship building. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects independently. Financial acumen: budgeting, financial projections and report writing. Experience with construction finance, capital budgeting, and vendor management. Proficiency in computer systems and software used for finance and project management. In-depth knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to health‑care operations. Ability to foster effective working relationships with internal departments and external vendors. Strong analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to develop programs and lead process improvement projects. Physical Demands and Work Conditions Category II: Tasks that do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but may require performing Category I tasks as needed. Compensation Base pay for this role generally starts at $79.21 – $104.97 per hour.
