Job Description Medical Laboratory Scientist II – Hackensack, NJ, every other weekend from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist II in Hackensack, NJ. This is a hospital‑based position at HUMC (HUMC). Pay Range and Benefits Pay range: $32.00 – $50.73 per hour. Shift differential may be earned: 10 % for some or all hours on the second shift and 15 % for some or all hours on the third shift (details will be provided upon offer). Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Successful candidates may also be eligible for an annual performance‑bonuses. Support quality control, troubleshoot complex problems, provide customer support, maintain instruments, train staff, and lead special projects. Perform and report on analytical tests following SOPs and quality control requirements. Support laboratory policies for specimen handling, test analysis, and record keeping. Maintain turnaround times for all results, including stats or critical results. Track reagent/test kit dates (received, expiration, opened) and perform QC analysis for accuracy. Resolve assay or test disposition decisions. Notify supervisory personnel of problems and potential deviations from standard procedures. Enter results into the Laboratory Information System for physician review. Keep laboratory areas and equipment safe, functional, and sanitary. Complete training and competency checklists as required. Assist in training other laboratory personnel when needed. Follow all CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety requirements. Use personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and/or work‑practice controls as directed. Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel. Participate in government or regulatory inspections if needed. Assume lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor, if qualified and delegated. Perform other duties as assigned. This is a general description of the work performed. Qualifications Required work experience: One year of full‑time experience or training in a clinical laboratory setting, involving high‑complexity testing. Preferred work experience: Minimum of 3 years clinical experience, most current year in the present department. Physical & Mental Requirements Lifting and carrying: 1‑10 lb frequently, 11‑25 lb occasionally, 36‑50 lb rarely, >50 lb only with assistance. Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods. Frequent walking and/or standing. Use of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments requiring manual dexterity. Knowledge Comprehensive knowledge of designated specialty and related SOPs. Knowledge of department policies and procedures. BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or an Associates degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493. 1433. Foreign‑educated candidates must provide credential evaluation from IERF; U.S.‑educated candidates must provide original transcript.
