Sr Scientist I, Chemistry

AbbVie seeks a Senior Scientist in Process Chemistry to develop and scale organic chemistry processes for late-stage drug candidates, including small molecules, peptides, and antibody drug conjugates. The role involves laboratory experimentation, cross-functional collaboration, and support from clinical development through commercialization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute organic chemistry processes at scale for therapeutic candidates
• Conduct autonomous laboratory experimentation with minimal supervisory direction
• Collaborate with organic chemists, analytical chemists, engineers, and solid-state scientists
• Author publications, presentations, regulatory documents, and patent applications
• Serve as subject matter expert and mentor to cross-functional project teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 10+ years experience, or Master's with 8+ years, or PhD
• Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, compound purification, and spectral analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with small molecules, peptides, and/or antibody drug conjugate chemistry
• Proficiency in laboratory experimentation and process scale-up
• Knowledge of GxP compliance and safe handling of controlled substances
