Employment Status: Full Time (40 hours per week)

SUMMARY

Perform structural welding for large water treatment machinery and its subcomponents. Use of MIG and TIG welders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Structural welding of water treatment machinery components.
  2. Pre weld prep of subcomponents and post weld prep for paint. This will include removal of sharp edges, burrs, weld spatter and slag by means of grinding, chiseling, etc.
  3. Some non-structural welding of carbon and stainless steel.
  4. Operation of saws, drills, shears, breaks, etc.
  5. Operation of forklifts.
  6. Clean and maintain work area.
  7. Promote and contribute to a continuous improvement culture.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. 1+ year of experience in structural welding of steel components.
  2. 1+ year of experience with MIG and TIG welding techniques.
  3. Weld certifications are preferred.
  4. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  5. Ability to read and understand shop drawings and specifications.
  6. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, safety toe shoes/boots, and hardhats.

REMOTE WORK

This position cannot be done remotely. It requires working hands-on in the factory.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

X J. Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

X K. Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

X L. Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

X M. Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

X N. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
