IT Desktop Technician

Overview Working in a technical role, the IT Desktop Technician has primary responsibility for administering the desktop & peripheral computing environment. The resource will maintain, and upgrade local applications used in the business along with assisting others on server‑based applications. Primary front‑facing resource to the business from an IT standpoint to provide excellent customer service building trust and confidence in our user base. Responsibilities Use ticketing system to track problems and explain issues to the appropriate level when required. Provide desktop support and resolve problems related to the computing environment. Ensure that the desktop environment is running efficiently through monitoring and optimization. Create, modify, and maintain users and groups in a domain environment. Document all termination changes for audit compliance. Install and configure network printers. Perform computer and software upgrades. Follow through with users to ensure customer satisfaction. Coordinate, test, and implement technical solutions for multiple projects individually or as part of a team. Monitor the desktop environment using hardware and software monitoring tools; manage system patching. Maintain tools to conduct hardware and software inventory, maintaining proper inventory levels. Manage supplies and the vendors that provide them. Serve as the technical lead in evaluating and recommending new desktop technologies. Coordinate service calls with service providers to ensure satisfactory resolution of problems. Deploy and troubleshoot problems for all outside sales, service, and other department personnel. Qualifications Excellent planning and organizational skills. Self‑starter with the ability to work independently. Customer‑service centric and actively looking for ways to help the user base. Able to troubleshoot basic and advanced desktop and network issues. Ability to methodically work through problems to resolution. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, software distribution, PC imaging. Able to produce easy‑to‑understand documentation. Education, Experience and Technical Competencies Associate’s Degree or HS Diploma. 5‑7 years prior experience in Microsoft desktop management & IT systems. Office365, MicrosoftSharePoint. Understanding of network principles. Backup and recovery experience (Veeam a plus). Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable. Physical/Environment Demands Able to lift, carry or move weights up to 40 lbs. Work in shop conditions with moving equipment, noise, dust, and temperature swings. Periodically exposed to high noise level which requires use of extra hearing protection and other hazards requiring the use of appropriate PPE (personal protection equipment).
