Staff Accountant

JOB SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Controller and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial reporting. This position is responsible for core accounting functions including month-end close, reconciliations, financial analysis, and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while contributing to continuous process improvements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare and support monthly financial statements, including maintaining detailed supporting schedules and reconciliations Record and post journal entries to the general ledger in accordance with accounting standards Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner Conduct monthly variance analysis on income statement accounts Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes as needed Process weekly agent payroll and communicate with agents to resolve discrepancies Assist with external audits by preparing and providing required documentation Participate in month-end and year-end close processes Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and documentation Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial and performance reports for management Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process improvements

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting 3–5 years of accounting experience Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting principles Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Transportation experience is preferred but not required McLeod ERP system experience is preferred but not required Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process and efficiency improvements Effective time management and prioritization skills #J-18808-Ljbffr Action
