Job Description:

The registered nurse will be responsible for providing acute care for complex ICU patients in a mixed unit that includes MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU. The nurse will manage and care for surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma patients while maintaining a 1:1 to 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio according to patient acuity.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to ICU patients with conditions such as ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, post-surgical recovery, and multiple trauma
• Administer IV medications, manage ventilators, and monitor patients with hemodynamic lines
• Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, and RTs as part of the healthcare team
• Participate in charting and maintenance of patient records via Epic systems
• Float to other adult units if necessary based on staffing needs

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years ICU experience (excluding travel); 1.5 years acceptable with additional RN experience
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the South Dakota Board of Nursing
• Proficiency in the Epic charting system
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments

Unit Description: General Information Beds: 39 – MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU – mixed unit Minimal Experience: 2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler Patient Types: Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma – heavy trauma population Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR – 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this – given to permanent staff Patient Ratios: RN: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1
