Senior Marketing Strategist

Location: Houston, Texas Job Type: Contract Compensation Range: $70 - 60 per hour Are you an experienced B2B marketing strategist who excels at big-picture thinking, technical positioning, and stakeholder influence? We are seeking a Senior Marketing Strategist to serve as the dedicated marketing lead for our Drilling Services segment. In this high-impact, 100% strategic role (0% executional), you will act as the vital bridge between commercial ambitions and marketing delivery. You won't be writing copy, managing social feeds, or coordinating event logistics. Instead, you will partner directly with commercial and product leaders to translate business objectives into integrated, omni-channel campaign strategies. You will define the "why," articulate the core messaging for complex technical products, outline target audiences, set KPIs, and oversee campaign alignment while central channel specialists handle execution. Responsibilities: Commercial Partnering: Meet regularly with commercial leaders, product management, and sales teams to align on business goals, customer pain points, and expansion initiatives (e.g., global drilling growth into emerging markets like Africa and the Middle East). Campaign Architecture & Strategy: Build and document comprehensive omni-channel marketing plans (prioritizing thought leadership, long-form content, PR, digital, website, and paid media). Product Launch Strategy: Lead strategy for major product introductions and positioning across portfolio brands (e.g., SPM acquisitions and green initiatives like 100% natural gas equipment). Strategic Oversight & Governance: Hand off strategy briefs to central creative and channel teams; review, approve, and govern execution to ensure 100% alignment with segment goals. Thought Leadership & Positioning: Translate complex, highly technical oilfield concepts into clear messaging, guiding case studies, blogs, white papers, and technical narratives. Trade Show & Event Strategy: Serve as the strategic event liaison-defining campaign themes, messaging, and customer journey strategies for key industry events (without handling tactical logistics). Stakeholder Management: Act as a strategic advisor rather than an "order taker." Confidently push back, educate, and manage competing priorities across multiple senior executives in a complex matrix organization. Performance & Insights: Track campaign effectiveness using work management tools (e.g., Workfront) and communicate performance updates and strategy refinements back to business leaders. Qualifications: Omni-Channel Strategy Mastery: Deep experience building multi-channel B2B marketing plans. Broad expertise across PR, long-form content (thought leadership, white papers, case studies), and digital/paid media (web, social, search). Pure Strategy Focus: Proven ability to define the "why," shape messaging, and direct execution through centralized channel specialists without needing to execute tactics yourself. Matrix Influence & Executive Presence: Demonstrated confidence to negotiate, prioritize, and push back when managing competing demands from multiple senior stakeholders. Planning & Budget Governance: Solid foundation in campaign architecture, high-level budget management, and project governance tools (experience with Workfront is a strong plus). Nice-to-Have Qualifications: Industry Experience: Background in Oil & Gas, Energy, or Industrial Equipment/Services (specifically Drilling Services or well completion) is strongly preferred due to the technical nature of the segment.
