The role of the Board President involves serving as the lead volunteer and working closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Director to guide the board in managing the organization, setting strategic direction, and providing support. This position is pivotal in promoting the organization's mission within the community while ensuring the financial well-being of performances, staff, and educational programs. The Board President must lead board meetings, collaborate with key directors and the board secretary to establish clear agendas, and ensure compliance with bylaws and financial and legal obligations. Key responsibilities include strategic leadership by guiding the board in establishing and tracking realistic goals while keeping a mission-centric focus appropriate for a small, growing nonprofit. This includes playing a significant role in fundraising and advocacy by supporting the Artistic Director as a spokesperson and engaging with donors, sponsors, and partners to bolster funding efforts. In addition, the Board President supports board development by recruiting new board members with diverse skills in areas such as arts management, law, finance, or marketing, along with aiding in their onboarding and engagement processes. The ideal candidate should possess a genuine enthusiasm for flamenco and a commitment to advancing the organization's mission, fostering the growth of the art form and its community within the area. Leadership experience is crucial, particularly in serving on a nonprofit board or holding a senior management role. The position is based in Pittsburgh and may require participation in various local activities and events to further the mission and reach of the art form.
