Sr. Field Performance Engineer

Position Summary:

The Sr. Field Performance Engineer identifies, prioritizes, and leads the resolution of emerging product quality and safety issues by leveraging field performance data, structured problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration. In this role, you will analyze warranty, service, customer experience, and other available data to determine the scope, root cause, customer impact, and corrective action. You will partner with engineering, manufacturing, service, quality, and program teams to implement sustainable countermeasures and ensure that findings are incorporated into technical requirements, standards, and product development processes. This role offers ownership of field performance for an entire off-road vehicle platform and the opportunity to drive measurable improvements in product performance, dealer experience, and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor warranty, service, customer experience, Net Promoter Score (NPS), and other field performance channels to identify emerging trends, quality concerns, and product safety risks that require action.

• Use data analysis, statistical methods, and engineering judgment to define the issue scope, customer impact, priority, and expected customer or business impact.

• Lead or support hands-on, structured problem-solving to determine the root cause and develop, validate, and implement effective countermeasures for complex product quality issues.

• Drive corrective and preventive actions and, when required, transition long-term corrective actions to the appropriate functional owners.

• Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues and enhance product robustness.

• Own the quality of an off-road vehicle platform, including warranty, dealer experience, and customer experience. Report the platform's status against enterprise goals to management monthly.

• Lead customer and field quality meetings with cross-functional collaboration to establish ownership, accelerate decisions, and drive closure of key issues.

• Lead warranty projects to implementation into product as a running change or integrate into future planned change program.

• Influence technical and non-technical stakeholders without direct authority while ensuring clear accountability, timely escalation, and alignment on priorities and solutions.

• Develop and maintain early warning methods, monitoring tools, and performance metrics to improve the speed and accuracy of issue detection.

• Capture root cause, corrective action, and full-circle learning within applicable requirements and technical documentation, including design standards, FMEAs, validation plans, and related engineering tools.

• Develop or improve processes and standards to strengthen issue management, technical documentation, and continuous improvement.

• Benchmark competitive designs and support additional product safety, quality, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives as business needs require.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, including demonstrated hands-on root cause analysis, structured problem-solving, and corrective-action leadership.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze field or quality data, lead cross-functional technical efforts, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work hands-on with vehicles and equipment and, where required, operate or ride applicable products to understand customer use and application needs.

• Experience with vehicle systems, off-road products, consumer use cases, OEM product design and development, and component manufacturing processes is preferred.

• Experience with CAPA, FMEA, system specifications, design reviews, GD&T, dimensional stack-ups, product validation, instrumentation, testing, fabrication, CAD, or production drawing release is preferred.

• Experience with Power BI, statistical or predictive analysis, data acquisition, and engineering or problem-solving tracking tools is preferred.

• Travel up to 10%, including domestic and occasional international trips.

• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

The starting pay range for Minnesota is $97,000 to $122,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
