City/StateNorfolk, VAWork ShiftMultiple shifts availableOverview:Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Patient Care Technician for Emergency Department.This position is on-site in Norfolk, Virginia.Position Status: Flexi, 12 hours per week, hiring for multiple shiftsPosition Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital - Emergency DepartmentAvailable Shifts:Sundays only from11a-11p, 1 shift per weekMondays only from 11a-11p, 1 shift per weekWednesdays only from 11a-11p, 1 shift per weekThursdays only from 11a-11p, 1 shift per weekFridays only from 11a-11p, 1 shift per weekOverviewThe Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.Will provide support for the organization’s respiratory fit testing program for N95 respirators while assisting with additional clinical tasks within the scope of a Patient Care Technician (PCT) role. Responsibilities may include conducting blood draws, performing Amplivox hearing screenings, obtaining vital signs, and administering vision tests to support employee health and safety services.EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalentCertification/LicensureNew incumbents must have one of the following in addition to the minimum Education :Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, orSuccessful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), orNational Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), orNational Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), orCompletion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, orEmergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, orCurrent student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT, orCurrent work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.ExperiencePrevious clinical experience preferredWe provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
