Project Controls / Delivery Lead

A Houston-based, institutionally-backed renewable energy independent power producer is hiring a Manager of Project Delivery as its portfolio grows. The platform is founder-led, well capitalized, and has projects in operation, construction, and financing today. The problem you'd own Every utility-scale project carries six to eight major contracts: offtake, interconnection, equipment supply, EPC, long-lead procurement, plus the tax equity and debt agreements on top. Hundreds of pages of dates, thresholds, and notice provisions per project, and today nobody holds it all in one living picture. When a schedule moves, the ripple effects surface late: a financing gate at risk, deliveries that can't be accepted, COD sliding, returns eroding. The tools the industry uses are static and can't answer the question that matters: if this moves, what breaks downstream? This role exists to build that connected picture and enforce against it, working directly with senior leadership to hold development, commercial, underwriting, and construction accountable to dates, budgets, and contractual obligations across the portfolio. What you'll do Build the integrated view of each project: every contractual deadline, financing gate, coverage requirement, and notice obligation, wired to the live schedule and budget Build it with AI tooling on a deliberately lightweight stack. The team already uses LLMs for contract review and modern accounting and spend platforms. The job is to wire it together: contracts read for risks and dates, schedules connected to financing milestones, actuals and forecasts in one place Flag ripple effects early and drive them to resolution: when something slips, quantify what it hits downstream and chase the owning team until it closes Track budgets, actuals, and contingency across projects, and run the deliverables behind financings: what the independent engineer, insurers, and lenders need, when, and who owes it Grow into leading the delivery and controls function over time, with direct mentorship from senior leadership Who fits Roughly 5 to 8 years in project delivery, project controls, or capital projects, ideally owner-side in renewables, storage, power, or adjacent infrastructure. Strong junior project finance or investment banking backgrounds with heavy transaction management are equally welcome Real fluency with AI tools: you've used LLMs to pull dates and risks out of documents, connect systems, automate reporting, or build workflows At home inside schedules, budgets, and major contracts, and you treat the financing workstream as core to the job, not someone else's problem Front-foot by nature: you see the deadline coming and chase the owner without being asked Houston-based or willing to relocate What this is not Not a slide-deck PMO role, and not field construction management Not a heavyweight systems implementation.
