(Proficient) Responsibilities Patient Care: Demonstrates consistent use of nursing process in daily practice and manages more complex patients. Knowledge and Skills: Identifies personal learning needs, assists other staff members in identifying learning needs and develops corrective action plan; demonstrates proficiency in advanced skills; assists others to use the teaching/learning process. Professional Relationships/Leadership: Performs as an effective group leader and evaluates group process at unit level; assists others in developing group process skills Quality Improvement/Research: Assists nursing peers to develop an appreciation of nursing research. Utilizes nursing research to improve nursing care and patient outcomes. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
