Senior JAVA Developer

ResponsibilitiesNoblis MSD is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support a large-scale software project for U.S. Navy programs. This is an onsite position based at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.Noblis MSD supports Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) by providing engineering, software development, systems integration, cybersecurity, logistics, and life-cycle support to Navy programs.The Senior Java Developer will work as part of a software development team to design, develop, maintain, test, and support Java-based applications. The ideal candidate has experience working with large software codebases, helping improve existing applications, and supporting other developers through collaboration, code reviews, and technical guidance. Other languages include Gradle, bash, python, structured text, and ladder logic.Responsibilities:Design, develop, maintain, and enhance Java software applicationsSupport software development, troubleshooting, testing, integration, and release activitiesWork with large existing Java codebases and help improve maintainability over timeReview, understand, and update existing software as neededSupport modernization, refactoring, and performance improvement effortsParticipate in code reviews and help promote good software development practicesSupport build, deployment, and release activities using tools such as GitLab, Jira, SonarQube, or similar platformsAssist with troubleshooting software issues identified during development, integration, testing, or field supportHelp mentor or guide other developers when neededCollaborate with software developers, testers, engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program stakeholdersSupport technical documentation such as design notes, release notes, installation instructions, and user/support guidanceCommunicate status, blockers, risks, and technical issues clearly and professionallyRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a relevant technical discipline8+ years of experience developing software using JavaExperience working with large or multi-module Java applicationsExperience maintaining, troubleshooting, or refactoring existing Java codebasesStrong understanding of object-oriented design and software development best practicesExperience with Java 17 or laterFamiliarity with Java modernization concepts, such as records, enhanced switch, modularity, dependency management, or related language/platform improvementsExperience with version control tools such as Git or GitLabExperience using issue tracking tools such as Jira or similar platformsFamiliarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as GitLab CI/CD, or similar platformsFamiliarity with code quality tools such as SonarQube or similar platformsAbility to work in a Linux environmentAbility to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with people at varying technical levelsMust be a U.S. CitizenAbility to obtain a Secret clearanceDesired QualificationsMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a relevant technical disciplineExperience supporting modernization or refactoring of large Java applicationsExperience with Java platform migrationsExperience with Bash scripting or general automation scriptingExperience with Docker, containers, or RHEL 8/9 environmentsFamiliarity with JGroups or distributed Java applicationsExperience helping guide, mentor, or support other developersExperience supporting software integration and formal test eventsExperience writing clear technical documentation, including design notes, release notes, and installation guidanceExperience working on DoD, Navy, or other government software programsCompTIA Security+, Linux certification, Oracle Java certification, or similar certifications are a plus#hotjob#nowhiringOverviewOverviewNoblis and our wholly owned subsidiaries, Noblis ESI and Noblis MSD, take on some of the nation’s toughest challenges, delivering advanced solutions to our customers’ most critical missions. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.Posted Salary RangeUSD $120,700.00 - USD $188,725.00 /Yr.
