Clinician - Employee Assistance Unit

DescriptionThe Massachusetts Department of State Police (the Department) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Licensed Independent Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to serve as an Employee Wellness Clinician on the staff of the Department’s Employee Assistance Unit (EAU).The duties of this role will include but are not limited to:Attend and lead critical incident debriefingsProvide clinical office hoursProvide individual crisis intervention and assessment for uniform branch members and civilian staff.Support the EAU with promoting mental health and wellness throughout the Department.Collaborate with EAU staff with crisis/risk management plans.Assist with outreach activities within the Department.Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations, including Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA).Use expertise to provide high-quality training to employee peer counselors and attend EAU meetings.Meet all requirements as a Mandated Reporter.Travel to various barracks/units as and when needed.Follow Department risk mitigation procedures with respect to reporting any significant event/incident and ensure the completion of all associated required documentation.The preferred candidate will also have the following:Ability to exercise sound judgment, make decisions and act quickly in emergency situations.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Training in crisis risk assessment, critical incident stress management, group and individual crisis intervention.Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures of governing MA laws relating to individuals experiencing mental health crises, group counseling and debriefing, and peer counseling.Excellent assessment and intervention skills.Strong communication skills, and time management skills.Ability to quickly adjust to varying or changing work.At least two years’ professional experience in crisis intervention.Knowledge/Experience in trauma-informed responses to mental health crises.Experience with Law Enforcement agencies and personnel.QualificationsFirst consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:Applicants must have (A) a Master's degree, in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education or criminal justice or a relevant human services degree, and (B) a current and valid Licensures as a Licensed Social Work Associate, Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Certified Social Worker or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration*, and (C) and four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in social work (based on assignment, at least one year must have included advanced specialized clinical or administrative assignments) with at least (D) one (1) year of experience must have been in a supervisory or team leadership capacity or (E) or any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.*Applicants at the Department of Children and Families must obtain the required license in Social Work within the first nine (9) months of employment.The classification may require possession of a current and valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License at a class level specific to assignment.Substitutions:I.
