Details Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting within a Level I trauma teaching hospital Patient ratio of 1:2-3 Day (0700-1930) and Night (1900-0730) 3x12 hour shift options Every other weekend required with some holiday coverage No on-call requirements Floating required as needed Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the past 12 months Requirements Active WI or compact RN license required Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in CVICU specialty required CVICU experience required Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area experience preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration Respiratory skills required including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients Cardiovascular skills required including CVP monitoring, CABG care, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips Experience with cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management required Experience with continuous IV sedation and emergency medications required IV insulin protocol experience required Additional Information Must pass a telemetry exam with strict criteria (adult and pediatric rhythm identification, 80% or higher passing score) prior to starting the assignment Two attempts allowed for telemetry exam; failure of second attempt requires a certificate of completion for a cardiac interpretation review course before a third attempt is permitted Assignment may be cancelled if telemetry exam is not passed after three attempts Located at a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's 1 hospital and a leading teaching institution and referral center Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted Care for patients before and after cardiac surgery, including those coming directly from the OR Experience with devices such as Impella, IABP, and LVAD/RVAD preferred Experience with TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and sheath removal included in unit skill set Exposure to renal replacement therapies including CVVHD/CRRT and management of acute/chronic renal failure First-time travelers are welcome to apply given required experience is met American Traveler Job ID P-750651.
