Missionwell is seeking a detail-oriented Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to support a portfolio of nonprofit and values-driven organizations. This is an opportunity to work remotely with a collaborative team while managing meaningful accounting work that directly supports organizations making a difference in their communities.

What You'll Do

As an Associate Accountant, you will:

• Manage the full accounting cycle from transaction entry through month-end close.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Record and reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including payroll-related accounting.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes and financial reporting.
• Assist with cash flow tracking, budget-to-actual reporting, and restricted fund reporting.
• Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and documentation.
• Partner with clients and internal team members to resolve issues, gather information, and improve processes.
• Support new client onboarding and accounting system setup.
• Coach and train junior bookkeeping staff as assigned.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who thrives in a remote environment, enjoys solving problems, takes pride in producing accurate financial work, and has experience working in cloud-based accounting systems, including QuickBooks Online and Bill.com.

Required Qualifications

• At least 1 year of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Bookkeeping certification or equivalent education and experience.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and solid analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities independently across multiple clients and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with nonprofit organizations.
• Familiarity with fund, grant, or donor-restricted accounting.
• Experience supporting religious organizations is a plus.

Work Location

This is a fully remote position. Candidates must reside in one of the following states:

California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Tennessee, North Carolina, or Florida. Occasional local travel may be required.

Compensation

$22.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

Work Schedule

This role is 20 - 30 hours per week with flexible scheduling within normal business hours while maintaining responsiveness to clients and team needs.
