Our Core Values guide everything we do: Every Person Matters® | Together We Can Do Great Things® | This Is More Than a Job® Position Overview The Mechanic Technician 1 is responsible for supporting the inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of a wide range of operating equipment and vehicles at Capitol Aggregates plant locations. This role is primarily shop-based but may require work to be performed in plant environments as needed. Equipment serviced includes heavy and light automotive equipment, earth-moving machinery, internal combustion engines (gas and diesel), air compressors, pumps, vac trucks, sweepers, golf carts, and other support equipment. What You'll Do Perform maintenance and repairs on trucks, vehicles, and equipment, completing both major and minor work as assigned. Respond to routine service calls on both on-road and off-road equipment. Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment such as loaders, bulldozers, off-highway trucks, and skid steers. Perform welding, fabrication, and basic machine work. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and rebuild equipment systems as directed. Maintain clean equipment, shop areas, and workspaces daily. Follow all related and established company, plant, and safety regulations. NOTE: This list presents only the principal duties of the position and is not intended to be comprehensive. What You'll Bring Education, Skills, Abilities and Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Diesel Mechanics highly desired but not required. Must have a valid and clean driver's license. Must be proficient with computers. Must have proficient knowledge of and ability to use software to diagnose and repair component systems. Must be able to operate a truck-mounted crane. Ability to provide own basic tools. Other Qualifications Demonstrated aptitude for learning complex mechanical trade skills. Proven ability to operate a service truck in and around heavy traffic. Ability to provide timely customer service at all plants or locations. Must be flexible in work schedules and start times.
