Description
The Prince George's County Department of Parks & Recreation, Southern Recreation and Leisure Services Division is seeking a highly experienced professional to fill the role of Administrative Specialist I. As the Administrative Specialist, the selected candidate will perform administrative support duties for the Administrative Supervisor and the Division Leadership with special projects, day-to-day functions, research, and long-range project management. The successful candidate must have a strong work ethic, be highly motivated, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be organized and flexible, have excellent external and internal customer service skills, and be able to keep pace with a varied work program and work with a diverse team. This position will report to the Administrative Supervisor. Budgeted Hiring Range: $$54,998 - $76,200 with growth potential to $97,403. Salary commensurate with experience.

1. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Finance, Business or any related field.
2. One (1) year of experience in human resource management, finance or any other related area of business administration.

Examples of Important Duties
- Provide administrative support to the Leadership team
- Provide administrative support to the assigned Region(s) and/or Unit to include:
- Prepare, process, and maintain confidential personnel actions and employee files
- Process and review seasonal employee time and attendance
- Review payroll information and resolve any discrepancies
- Prepare, process and track purchasing documents to include: purchase cards, purchase orders, and contracts
- Process check request to include instructor payments, petty cash reimbursements, and mileage reimbursements
- Maintain and reconcile financial records to track expenditures
- Monitor administrative processes to ensure conformance with policies and procedures
- Develop and Conduct training for divisional staff to inform them of up-to-date processes, policies, and procedures
- Compile monthly and bi-weekly personnel and payroll tracking reports
- Initiate career hiring process: submit recruitment plan, schedule interviews
- Supervise Administrative Assistant II and intermittent front desk staff
- Provide back-up support to the Administrative Supervisor.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a large and diverse staff and work effectively as part of a team or independently to complete work assignments
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer and MS Office software skills and the ability to learn other Commission resources.
- Excellent organizational skills.

- Benefits paid at 66 2/3% of base salary that exceeds $108,000; capped at $216,000

- Two (2) times base salary; maximum benefit is $200,000 for each

Supplemental and Spouse/Dependent Life Insurance (Employee Pays 100%)
- Supplemental - 1,2,3,4, or 5 times base salary; maximum benefit is $750,000
- Spouse/Dependent Combination - $10,000/$5,000, $20,000/$10,000, or $30,000/$15,000
Sick Leave Bank (Contribution and Benefit hours prorated for part-time employees)
- Employees have 60 days from date of hire to enroll.
- Employee contributes 8 leave hours each year
- Annually covers up to 688 hours for own serious medical condition, and 480 hours for parental responsibilities (birth, adoption or foster care), and 80-160 hours for serious medical condition of an immediate family member
