Registered Nurse - NICU

Job Summary:
The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) in the NICU provides specialized nursing care to neonatal patients, ensuring safety and promoting health through comprehensive assessment, care planning, and intervention. The role involves collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality, family-centered care tailored to neonatal needs.

Responsibilities:

• Perform initial assessments and develop individualized care plans for neonatal patients based on clinical standards and family needs.
• Implement and modify nursing interventions, procedures, and treatment plans through continuous evaluation.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care to support effective communication within the healthcare team.
• Administer medications using proper bar code scanning and monitor patient intake and output as assigned.
• Assist mothers with breastfeeding initiation and support baby-friendly care practices.
• Communicate effectively with team members during multidisciplinary rounds and report safety hazards or incidents promptly.

Qualifications:

• Hold an Illinois state RN license in good standing.
• Possess a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant neonatal nursing experience.
• Meet all departmental competency requirements.
• Maintain BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• NRP certification from the American Heart Association is required.
