Get to Know Your Team:
Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU.
Responsibilities:
- The receptionist provides a superior level of secretarial duties and reception services to the doctor, patients, and staff.
- Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Updates all patient files and makes sure documents are accurate, confidential, and compliant.
- Greets, checks in, and checks out patients, and advises other medical staff of the arrival of patients.
- Assists in maintaining inventory of necessary supplies and all instruments.
- Schedules appointments, follows up with no call - no shows, and the discharge of patients.
- Answers inbound calls to the practice, as well as greets vendors and sets vendor appointments.
- Maintains Physicians' calendars, prepares doctors' notes (return to work, school, or leave notices), and all other correspondence as directed.
- Scans, files, and faxes documents, as well as prepares and sorts mail.
- Acts as a liaison with patients, referrals, general practitioners, health care professionals, and patient's family member in a compassionate and kind manner.
Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Higher education may be substituted for experience.
- 1+ years' experience in customer service.
- Basic to intermediate EMR knowledge.
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge.
- Ability to multitask, can work in a fast-paced clinical environment, can engage patients, peers, and supervisors in a dedicated, comforting, respectful, and effective way, and can adapt to change.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Associate's degree in a related field of study.
Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
