Automotive Used Car Technician

As a Used Car Technician at Autoworld Kia, part of the Generation Auto Group, you will inspect, diagnose, repair, maintain, and recondition used and certified pre-owned vehicles to ensure they meet dealership, manufacturer, and safety standards before being offered for sale. This role involves performing multi-point inspections, mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, electrical and drivability diagnostics, brake and suspension repairs, steering, engine, transmission, HVAC, and routine maintenance services on a wide variety of vehicle makes and models.As an essential member of our Used Car Department, you will identify needed repairs, accurately document findings, complete work efficiently, and help maintain inventory readiness. Your technical expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to quality ensure every pre-owned vehicle is safe, reliable, and retail-ready, while supporting customer satisfaction and dealership performance.What You’ll Be Doing:The primary functions of this role include, but are not limited to:Used Vehicle Inspection & ReconditioningPerform comprehensive inspections on all incoming used and pre-owned vehicles.Identify mechanical, electrical, and safety-related issues and complete necessary repairs.Recondition vehicles to dealership and manufacturer standards for resale.Perform New York State inspectionsEnsure all vehicles are road-ready, safe, and compliant prior to sale, including routine services such as oil changes, tires, brakes, fluids, filters, batteries, and alignments.Test-drive vehicles as needed to verify repairs and overall performance.Accurately document all inspections, repairs, and reconditioning work performed.Complete multi-point inspections and clearly note required and completed repairs.Communicate repair needs, delays, or additional findings to management promptly.What We’re Looking For:Hold a valid and clean driver’s licenseNew York State Inspector’s LicensePunctual, reliable, and self-motivatedAble to stand for 6–8 hours per dayAble to bend, stretch, reach, climb, and lift up to 70 lbsOwn a complete set of tools and toolboxProficient with diagnostic tools, shop equipment, and tablet-based applicationsComfortable using computer software and dealership systems (DMS)Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detailClear verbal and written communication skillsProfessional appearance and demeanorFlexible schedule, including the ability to work SaturdaysWillingness to continuously learn and adapt to evolving automotive technologiesWhat We’ll Give You• Paid Time Off• Medical Insurance• Dental Insurance• Vision Insurance• Voluntary Life, Accident & Critical Illness Insurance• 401(k) with Employer Contribution• Paid Holidays• Employee Purchase Program• Perks & Discount Program• Monthly Employee Celebrations• Paid Manufacturer Training• Company-Supplied UniformsWho We AreGeneration Auto Group is a family-owned and operated dealership group proudly serving our communities for over 30 years.
