The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising activities of custodial workers engaged in providing care, cleaning, and maintenance of clinical and academic buildings, furniture, and fixtures. This position will schedule employees, assign duties, inspect work, investigate complaints regarding custodial services, and recommend corrective action. May purchase supplies and equipment, take periodic inventories, screen applicants, and train new employees. The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for assuring the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates degree, vocational or technical school degree. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
• At least 5 years of work-related experience in working in facilities, janitorial, or custodial in a public facility or healthcare environment.
• At least 5 years of supervisory or managerial responsibilities. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
• Able to read, understand, and follow written instructions, and comprehend verbal instructions given in English.
• Specialty Training in Carpet Care, Customer Service, Floor Care and or Supervisor training.
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of environmental service equipment, supplies, policies, and procedures.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with a diverse and wide range of people.
• Proficiency using internet-based programs, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to prepare daily and monthly reports as established by Director.
• Ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services is essential to success in this role.
• Age Specific Competency: Able to differentiate and appropriately handle situations involving patients, visitors, and family members in various age groups.
• Must participate in self-development programs and activities.

Physical Effort Required:

• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree.
• Courses in personnel management, budgeting, cleaning principles and public relations preferred.
• Familiarity with DOH, JCAHO, DEP, EPA and SRBC regulations.
• More than 2 years extensive knowledge and experience in custodial work loading and use of associated software.

Work schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability
