Follow us at: LER TechForce on LinkedIn Responsibilities Support the design, implementation, and calibration of On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) strategies in accordance with evolving system architectures, technology developments, and emissions regulatory requirements Assist in evaluating OBD monitoring boundaries and diagnostic concepts to help ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards and project requirements Participate in OBD development activities, including requirements analysis, diagnostic algorithm development, calibration, validation, testing, and certification support Utilize engineering tools and programming languages such as Python to develop analysis scripts, automate routine tasks, and support virtual modeling and calibration activities Analyze and process large datasets using advanced data analysis techniques to identify trends, investigate issues, and support engineering decision-making Develop required BPU level failures for smart sensors and actuators using CAN-based manipulation technique Support the planning and execution of engine, aftertreatment, and powertrain testing activities on dynamometers and vehicle platforms for gasoline and diesel applications Assist with the installation, commissioning, and operation of powertrain test setups, including conventional internal combustion engine and hybrid-electric configurations Analyze test results to assess system performance against project objectives and regulatory requirements Document test findings and prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and customer review Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, software, calibration, testing, and certification engineers to support the successful delivery of OBD development projects Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering (Master's preferred; other degrees considered per context) 1 to 5 years of experience in OBD calibration development and/or certification testing Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and internal combustion engines Basic-level regulatory understanding of CARB, EU-OBD, EPA-OBD, and WWH-OBD Moderate experience in calibration and implementation of OBD strategies meeting CARB regulations Understanding of fault handling and communication Experience in developing OBD design requirements for software development Ability to leverage advanced toolchain capabilities (such as Python) to develop virtual models/calibrations and process large sets of data Experience in OBD data preparation for certification Extensive experience in OBD testing for certification, data consolidation, and presentation preparation Experience in logic diagram development and concept preparation Strong knowledge of CI and SI combustion processes Experience using commercially available calibration and development tools (e.g., ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, Vector CANape/CANalyzer, Matlab/Simulink) Professional communication skills (oral and written English) Must be a motivated team player able to perform in a fast-paced development environment Preferred Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering Knowledge of hybrid powertrain systems Exposure to US emission regulations and certification procedures Understanding of US OBD regulations, SAE J1939, and J1979 standards Exposure to base engine and aftertreatment system control Hands-on experience with engine hardware - engine assembly or rebuilding and troubleshooting Benefits Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, HSA and FSA 401K with a match and immediate vesting Short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and other optional benefits Employee Assistance Program Employee Discounts Ongoing professional development opportunities including Technical Training and Leadership Development The opportunity to work on industry-leading projects #J-18808-Ljbffr LER TechForce
