Graduate Assistant for Special Collections Teaching and Outreach

Essential Job Duties NC State University Libraries is seeking a graduate assistant to support work in the Special Collections Research Center’s (SCRC) Teaching and Outreach program at the D. H. Hill Jr. Library. This position provides hands‑on experience with teaching and outreach using special collections materials, including archival materials and rare books. Additionally, the graduate assistant will be integrated into a team of library professionals to provide direct support to students and faculty across disciplines. Key Responsibilities Manage planning logistics for teaching and outreach activities, including instruction sessions and outreach events. Prepare archival materials and supplies for instruction and outreach activities. Support SCRC librarians with archival research, item selection, and lesson plan design. Develop supporting materials such as research tutorials and materials lists. Support research consultations and reference requests with students. Support outreach activities, including tabling events, pop‑up exhibits, and workshops. Other Information This position is up to 20 hours per week. Some possible evening and weekend hours may be required, with advance planning and discussion with the supervisor. Physical requirements include occasional lifting and carrying boxes and oversize materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
