Senior Node.js Engineer

DescriptionWe’re looking for a Senior Node.js Engineer to own, maintain, and scale mission-critical, production-grade fintech and banking applications. In this role, you will be responsible for shipping robust backend services, managing complex ledger systems, and handling high-stakes financial data pipelines where data integrity and production discipline are non-negotiable. Operating as a senior technical contributor, you will thrive in an environment that values deep technical ownership, elegant backend engineering over hype, and a meticulous approach to financial system architecture.ResponsibilitiesYou’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external banking infrastructure to deliver reliable, production-ready, and 100% quality-driven code for high-volume transaction processing and core ledger systems.Development, Maintenance & OperationsMaintain, troubleshoot, and enhance core backend services utilizing Node.js within a modular monolith architecture.Write, optimize, and maintain complex PostgreSQL queries, ensuring strict data integrity through proper use of transactions, locking, and isolation levels.Own and enforce production discipline by implementing structured logs, monitoring system health via CloudWatch, and ensuring critical financial hot paths are completely resilient.Project Lifecycle, API Integrity & IntegrationsIntegrate and maintain robust connections against core banking platforms and infrastructure vendors (such as Unit, Increase, Treasury Prime, FIS, Fiserv, etc.), managing diverse authentication flows and specifications.Significantly enhance and operate our production double-entry ledger system, ensuring flawless execution of journal entries, debit/credit accounting, and balance derivation.Support financial workflows with extreme precision, managing settlement processing, holds, releases, reversals, adjustments, and automated reconciliation processes.Infrastructure & ComplianceNavigate and operate cloud infrastructure efficiently within AWS (utilizing IAM, RDS, CloudWatch, managed services, and security best practices).Ensure system architectures and workflows rigorously align with compliance expectations, keeping in mind SOC 2 environment requirements and banking regulations (KYC, BSA/AML, sanctions screening, and GLBA).Manage multi-rail deposit systems (ACH, Wire, Crypto) and external financial integrations with minimal supervision.QualificationsStrong Node.js Expertise: 5+ years of professional experience shipping scalable, highly reliable backend services to production environments.PostgreSQL Fluency: Expert-level experience with relational databases in production, including advanced query optimization, transaction management, locking strategies, and data integrity enforcement.Ledger & Financial Discipline: Hands-on experience building, operating, or scaling production double-entry ledger systems with real-world knowledge of handling balance derivation and reconciliation challenges.Domain Experience: Prior experience in fintech, payments, neobanking, or digital wallets, including a solid grasp of ACH processing and settlement workflows.AWS & Compliance Familiarity: Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure and security best practices within a regulated SOC 2 environment.Leadership & Mindset: Experience serving as a technical lead, providing constructive code reviews, mentoring peers, and effectively communicating technical concepts to engineering, product, and business stakeholders.You'd be a poor fit if:You view double-entry accounting as "just simple database entries" and underestimate the complexity of race conditions, ledger locking, and real-time balance derivation.You prefer chasing the latest trending framework over maintaining the stability, integrity, and scale of a production modular monolith.You ship financial logic updates or structural backend changes without updating the relevant system documentation.You prefer working in isolation rather than mentoring team members and collaborating across engineering and business teams.What you’ll love about usA fast-growing company with meaningful, mission-critical financial infrastructure projects.An international, collaborative work environment that values deep technical expertise and engineering discipline.A healthy work-life balance with a structured 5-day work week.E04JI80034mh4098kv4 #J-18808-Ljbffr Tech9
