Senior Accountant Construction

Job Description

1. Project Accounting & Job Costing

Maintain job cost budgets, cost codes, and change orders
Track actual costs vs. budget by job, phase, and cost code
Review labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs for proper job allocation
Analyze job profitability and gross margin by project
Work with Project Managers / Superintendents on cost-to-complete estimates

2. WIP Reporting & Revenue Recognition

Prepare monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedule
Calculate over/under billings
Apply percentage-of-completion method for revenue recognition
Reconcile earned revenue, billings, and costs
Explain variances in projected final gross profit

3. Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

Lead month-end and year-end close for construction entities
Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Reconcile general ledger, bank accounts, and intercompany accounts
Prepare monthly financial statements: P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow by job and company
Maintain fixed asset schedule and depreciation for equipment / fleet
Support annual audit and review with external CPAs

4. Billing, AR & Retention

Review and process progress billings, AIA G702/G703 applications
Track accounts receivable, retention receivable, and lien waivers
Monitor billing milestones and contract terms
Follow up on collections and resolve billing disputes
Reconcile unbilled receivables and deferred revenue

\nCompany Description

Design assist glass and glazing contractor. Projects include airports, hotels, universities and high end residential and mixed-use towers. Recently completed are the hard rock stadium, Hollywood, FL and All aboard Florida in Miami. The guitar-shaped hotel at the Hard rock casino at Hollywood is our signature project.
