Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 9 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12.5 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience; Minimum 2 years of critical care/tele experience; 1 year travel experience preferred for travel positions License: Client Registered Nurse License in good standing Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA) Must-Have: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing with relevant experience considered Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe and competent quality care. Care is based on nursing theory and research for a designated group of patients and significant others. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of professional practice. Applies the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs while applying critical thinking skills. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care, including teaching, coaching, and planning after hospital care. Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the patient care team. Manages assignments within the care delivery model and allocates resources effectively. Facilitates patient-centered care by considering patient values, preferences, and cultural diversity. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients and families. Uses evidence-based practices to enhance patients' perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and families with concerns. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening in all interactions. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care while identifying opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in patient care. Implements quality improvement strategies based on evidence and institutional procedures. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects. Contributes to safety practices and compliance measures. Documents nursing practice accurately and thoroughly in compliance with regulatory standards. Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Advances clinical competence in nursing practice to progress from novice to expert. Participates in shared decision-making through specialty practice councils and unit initiatives.
