Special Program Para 1, Life Skills 1:1 Job ID: 5801348 Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Day Shift Salary: $26.19 to $31.89 hourly Job Description Special Program Paraeducator 1, Life Skills 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year. One-on-one position. Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Non-Exempt. Qualifications Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED. Official transcripts verifying an associate's degree (90 quarter, 60 semester) or 72 quarter or 48 semester credits from an accredited university, college, community college or business school; or ETS ParaPro Assessment result of 461 or higher. One year of related experience working with children in an educational setting preferred. Successful experience as part of an educational team preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities. Problem‑solving, analytical, conflict‑resolution, and quick‑thinking skills. Experience working with children with moderate to severe disabilities preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effective communication with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to manage evasive and aggressive student behavior. Ability to attend mandatory trainings and complete required training promptly. Proficiency in using a computer monitor, keyboard, and adaptive technologies. Implement educational programs and manage student behavior with teacher direction. Maintain confidentiality. Be flexible with tasks and schedules. Develop supportive relationships with children with mental or physical disabilities. Other Requirements Ability to lift and physically restrain a child as required. Independent safe escort of students around school and community. Observe student behavior and communicate observations to service providers. Maintain regular attendance to fulfill duties. Essential Functions Treat all stakeholders with dignity and respect. Serve as a positive role model and practice expected behaviors. Work cooperatively and flexibly. Assist teachers in implementing and evaluating IEP goals. Participate in team meetings to provide input. Manage behavior and assist students during class activities and small groups. De‑escalate behaviors during crises and implement behavior plans. Dispense medication following district policy. Provide personal hygiene care for students with disabilities. Produce teaching materials, assist in data entry, record keeping. Grade homework using rubric or key. Observe students entering and leaving school grounds and intervene for safety. Attend training to broaden expertise in special needs. Assist students on and off buses if needed. Perform other tasks as assigned by administrator. Benefits and Compensation Salary ranges from $26.19 to $31.89 hourly, with experience credit available.
